I became a teacher because I love children! They are full of life and always willing to learn. Growing up, I had great teachers that really influenced me to set goals for myself and actually reach them! That feeling of accomplishment is one that I want to give to all the students I teach.
I student taught at Austin and the first thing I noticed about the school was how hard working the teachers were. They went above and beyond to meet the needs of their students. I also noticed that the administrators took a personal interest in the students and staff. I love Austin because I feel that teachers are truly equipped with the resources and supports they need to provide quality education to students. Everyone is willing to lend a helping hand. I could not have asked for a better group of people to be working among.
I believe teaching should be student focused. Students are not the only learners in the classroom. Teachers must also be willing to learn and continuously evaluate their methods of teaching to help students reach their full potential. I believe that as a teacher, it is my job to reach students where they are. If students do not learn the way I teach, I need to teach the way they learn.
I love traveling around the world, going to museums, listening to live music, journaling and writing poetry.
