Ms. Marie Kristine Romo

Marie Romo has been an educator since 2014. This will be her first year with the district. Ms. Romo’s ambition is to use the subject of language arts and reading to enhance the human condition of understanding author’s theme and why it is relevant to society and the subject. Though this years selected texts, she would like students to understand and connect to how the author’s central message relates and evolves their perception with reality. Ms. Romo encourages students to implement character traits such as empathy and integrity to create a well-rounded young adult.  Through focused class discussion, she hopes students will learn to tolerate other people’s point of view ranging from authors, faculty and staff, as well as peers. Her classroom is a community where students feel wanted and are acknowledged for their innovative ideas.

Ms. Romo is originally from El Paso, Texas. She received her B.A. in English with a minor in Secondary Education from the University of Texas at El Paso. Her certification is English Language Arts 7-12. She began her teaching career in a small community outside of El Paso, Texas with the San Elizario Independent School District and was nominated for teacher of the year twice. (2016-2017/2017-2018)

Ms. Romo quickly builds rapport with her students and is extremely excited to be a part of the Grand Prairie Phamily! She is a life-long reader, plays the flute, paints, and frequently writes poetry and song lyrics.
