Carmela Brown - CT

I am so excited to be at Sallye Moore College and Career Preparatory this year for my 18th year of teaching. I have had the privilege of teaching in Dallas, Duncanville, Fort Worth and now Grand Prairie. I am looking forward to teaching Career and Technical Education (CTE), Technology Applications and Coding this year to Sixth and Seventh Grade. My education includes a Bachelor’s degree in Management and Information Systems from The University of Mississippi. Prior to becoming a teacher, I was a software engineer and computer programmer for the Department of Defense, Viacom and IBM.

I feel that you should never stop learning and encourage all students to attend college and higher education. I am currently an Apple and Google certified teacher and Digital Academy Master teacher. I enjoy working with robotics and have coached several award-winning teams in the FIRST Lego League. I believe children's joy for learning is important, as well as, having high expectations for what they do. In my classroom, an atmosphere of safety, trust and respect are cultivated as we work together to build a sense of community and teamwork.

My family is also very important to me. I have two children, a son and a daughter. My son currently lives in Atlanta, Georgia and attended college at Mississippi State University. My daughter is currently attending college at the State University of New York - Fashion Institute of Technology. When I have free time, I like to read, craft and travel.

I know that great things can happen when we work together. I look forward to a wonderful school year!
