• Dr. Felicia Layne, Principal Dr. Felicia Layne, Chancellor

    Hello GPCI Families and Community,

Welcome to Grand Prairie Collegiate Institute as we embark on the 2020-2021 school year! I am excited to be joining GPCI this year as the new chancellor. This year marks my twenty-first as an educator (seventeen of those in GPISD) serving as a classroom teacher, school counselor, and dean. Most recently, I had the opportunity to help start the Early College High School at South Grand Prairie as the academic dean.

As a native of Shreveport, La., I received my bachelor’s and master’s degree both from Southern University A&M College in Baton Rouge, La. After moving to Texas, I obtained my counseling certification from Dallas Baptist University and my principal certification from the University of Texas – Arlington. In 2015, I received my doctorate degree in Educational Leadership from Dallas Baptist University.

When I am not at school, I love spending time with my husband and daughter. I also enjoy reading, decorating, photography and discovering new places to eat. Additionally, I am a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.

I am thrilled to think about the learning and growth that will take place at GPCI this year.

Of all the schools you could have attended, I am honored that you chose to be a part of the fine GPCI family. I invite you to partner with us as we continue to produce world-class scholars. Since the inception of GPCI in 2013, there has been a culture steeped in rich tradition and academic excellence. This year we will be “Soaring to the Next Level of Success!"

I look forward to working with all of our scholars, families, staff, and community members. Please know that my door is always open, so feel free to reach out to me at any time.
