The Global Leadership Academy at Barbara Bush Elementary provides students with full technology integration and project-based learning experiences so students can become agents of change in the community. Students develop global leadership skills through participation in weekly leadership academies and service projects. Students assume active roles in solving local and global issues through diverse and collaborative student educational experiences.

Extracurricular Opportunities
National Elementary Honor Society – Recognizes students for their outstanding academic achievement and demonstrated personal responsibility. Through NEHS students provide meaningful service to the school and community and develop essential leadership skills.
Student Ambassador Club – Leadership opportunities for students who are dedicated to serving and representing The Global Leadership Academy. Ambassadors provide campus tours for new students, schools, classes and guests. Ambassadors represent the Global Leadership Academy in academics, appearance and set the example for our students as well as the community.
Global Leadership Club - Students will learn what it means to be a leader. Students have the opportunity to demonstrate their leadership skills through different activities.
Kindness & Compassion Club – Our kindness club will plan different activities throughout the year to spread kindness at our school and into our community, helping others and making people smile.
Green Team Recycling Club – Opportunities for students to actively participate in recycling on our campus as well as generate ideas and action plans for recycling in the community
Art Club - The art club is designed to provide the children with an opportunity to experience artistic activities outside of the classroom in a relaxed, after school environment. The children will be encouraged to further their artistic expression through these activities and have fun making products that they will be able to take home.
Dance Club - The primary goal of the Leadership through Creative Dance club this year, is to teach students how to make successful presentations through the art form of dance. Students will learn various forms of dance including liturgical, drill, and spirited cheer. Students will have opportunities to promote and participate in school events.
Book Club – Students will build and develop reading comprehension skills and read stories of select children’s authors.
Basketball Club – Students have the opportunity to learn and participate in basketball, skills, drills and games during the fall and spring leagues.
Global Leadership Pen Pal Culture Exchange Club - Students will learn about other cultures, traditions, and languages by writing to a Pen Pal from another country.

Chess Club - The goal of the Chess Club is to have fun while developing cognitive and critical thinking skills as well as spatial and strategic reasoning abilities. This club is for the entire year

The Global Leadership Academy at Barbara Bush Elementary is a school of choice. Students must have excellent attendance rate of 95% or higher, scoring 80% or higher in all academic core classes, pass all areas of State Assessments (STAAR) in the most recent administration and acceptable citizenship/discipline record from previous campus/district.
