Overview of the Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief III (ESSER III) and Its Impact
ESSER III is coming to GPISD! ESSER III (Elementary and Secondary Schools Emergency Relief) was authorized under the American Rescue Plan (ARP) in February of 2021. It provides a total of $11.2 billion to schools to ensure that students can return to school safely in the fall and to help districts sustain the safe operation of their facilities. ESSER III’s primary purpose is to direct attention to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the nation’s students. Local education agencies (LEAs) can use the funds to attend to social, emotional, mental-health, and academic needs that have resulted from the pandemic and have contributed to learning loss.
Over a three-year period, GPISD will receive over $50 million in ESSER III grant funds. Our commitment is to maximize the benefit of these funds through the implementation of innovative strategies to make up learning loss and to ensure that GPISD installations are equipped and maintained in a way that protects the health and well-being of students and staff.
Regular updates about ESSER III will be available on this page.
