With twenty-five years of experience, I began my path to teaching at an early ages as I grew up in small schools where both parents were educators. After graduating from the University of Texas at Austin with a degree in English, I began teaching middle school English in Fort Worth but have spent a majority of my years teaching in Grand Prairie. Over the years, I taught in a variety of settings and enjoyed having the opportunity to teach both English and history. Along the way, I also earned my master of education from the University of North Texas and took graduate hours in gifted education at Southern Methodist University. For six years, I was a gifted specialist at a middle school before “graduating” to high school. In my spare time, I share my love of all things geeky with my two teenage sons and plot ways to make the world a better place for them.
