Celebrating bus drivers during Love the Bus Month

Each February we invite students and staff to thank bus drivers during Love the Bus Month. Love the Bus was established by the American School Bus Council as a way to celebrate the influence of the school bus and highlight the important roles of bus drivers safely transporting students to and from school.

“All of our bus drivers in Grand Prairie are tremendously dedicated to keeping our students safe and making their daily education possible,” said Director of Transportation Dana Acock.

About 160 school bus drivers at Grand Prairie ISD safely transport about 3,400 students daily. Transportation is provided to and from school, internships, extra-curricular activities, and summer instructional classes and activities.

“It’s necessary for our bus drivers to know how important their work is and for them to feel appreciated,” said Acock. “Rain or shine, bus drivers are one of the first smiling faces a student sees in the morning and it’s important to smile back at them!”

Thank your bus driver throughout the month of February, especially on School Bus Driver Appreciation Day on February 22.
