GPISD School Board Wins TCEA Award

The Grand Prairie ISD School Board was named the School Board of the Year by the Texas Computer Education Association (TCEA) at their Educator Awards Reception on Tuesday, February 4. The GPISD School Board leads the district with a vision focused on student achievement through innovative teaching and learning. Equitable technology integration is a fundamental part of this vision. Over the last three years, the board has approved a total of $19.7 million in network upgrades and the purchase of over 35,000 devices, to bring the District total to 67,000, supporting a one-to-one student device model. Side-by-side professional development through multiple departments has been key to GPISD’s success and robust accomplishments. Most notable are our Apple distinctions emphasizing our all-in technology integration focus: GPISD has the largest number of Apple Teachers across the country including members of the Superintendent’s cabinet. Grand Prairie ISD enjoys the distinction of having the first school board members in the Nation to achieve their Apple Teacher badges. The Director of Technology Integration is an Apple Distinguished Educator, and two campuses are 2019-22 Apple Distinguished Schools. Many instructional leaders are members of professional ed-tech organizations such as TCEA and ISTE. The unwavering support and commitment from the school board’s approval of budgetary items have enhanced the collective vision of student achievement. Congratulations to the GPISD School Board on this recognition for the work they do to provide leadership in technology education.
