This year, Grand Prairie ISD received a rating of Met Standard, which is the highest rating given by the State of Texas based on state testing (STAAR) conducted in December, March and May of the 2016-2017 school year.

In addition to the District rating, 20 GPISD schools were awarded 64 academic distinctions as defined by the Texas Education Agency. Four of those schools – Powell Elementary School, the School for the Highly Gifted, Dubiski Career High School, and Grand Prairie Fine Arts Academy – received all distinctions they were eligible to achieve.

“We are extremely proud to have received the highest rating possible,” said Superintendent Dr. Susan Hull. “This rating, and the numerous distinctions achieved by our schools, is a direct result of the hard work and focus of our students, their teachers, and the support staff that dedicate themselves to pursuing academic excellence.”

Of the 20 GPISD schools receiving distinctions, 8 campuses earned 4 or more distinctions including the 4 schools that received all possible distinctions. These campuses are among the top comparable schools in closing achievement gaps, college readiness and advanced performance.
