Two GPISD Students Named National Merit Semifinalists
Two Grand Prairie ISD students have been named National Merit Semifinalists after having scored in the top one percent on the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT) as juniors. They are among 16,000 students nationwide honored by the National Merit Program and are now eligible to compete for 7,500 scholarships worth $32 million.
This year’s National Merit Semifinalists are:
Julianna Cannon (R) | Dubiski Career High School
Sydney Truong (L) | Dubiski Career High School
Around 90 percent of Semifinalists will move on to become Finalists, and about half of Finalists will win a National Merit Scholarship and receive the National Merit title.
National Merit Scholarship winners of 2018 will be announced in the spring.
