Bryan Parra was sworn in as a Grand Prairie ISD Board Trustee in June 2020. He works currently as an Assistant Principal and has spent the last six years working in education. Mr. Parra first moved to Grand Prairie in 2003 where he attended Jackson Middle School for two years and would go on to graduate from South Grand Prairie High School in 2009.

Mr. Parra received his undergraduate degree from Texas A&M University in College Station, where the focus of his degree was in Race, Gender, & Ethnicity. His first job after Texas A&M was as a substitute teacher for GPISD. This is where he decided to continue his studies and become a teacher. Mr. Parra learned that education was the tool to transform students and ultimately what prompted him to pursue a teaching certification. Two years after he began teaching, Mr. Parra would go on to pursue a master’s degree in Education Leadership from Dallas Baptist University. He wanted to serve as an example for his students to understand that pursuit of knowledge and education should be a lifelong quest.

Mr. Parra spent five years as a middle school social studies teacher and recently completed his first year as an administrator. He hopes to provide an educational perspective when giving input and making decisions on the board. Mr. Parra remains heavily involved in the Grand Prairie community with his roles in the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) and the Grand Prairie Parks Board.

“By investing in the community, we can make it a better place for all of us to live,” he said.

Mr. Parra will focus on engaging the community to hear their concerns and their input on how we can make Grand Prairie Independent School District the best in the state. He is an advocate for public education where student safety, transparency, and building an environment that is welcoming to all students will be priorities.
