Mr. David Espinosa is a lifetime resident of Grand Prairie and a product of GPISD. He attended Bonham Elementary School, Lee Middle School, and graduated from Grand Prairie High School. His three older brothers also graduated from Grand Prairie High School, as well as his niece and nephews. David's mother worked for GPISD for 24 years in the ESL department as a paraprofessional. Born from immigrant parents, David is a first generation Mexican-American and he believes GPISD paved the way for him. He attended and graduated from Mountain View Community College and received his B.A. in Political Science from the University of Texas at Arlington.
David's desire to serve on the School Board started when he worked as an International English teacher in South America. As a teacher, he learned firsthand on how hard it is for educators to work with limited resources. That experience allowed him to understand the strong support teachers need from parents, as well as the Board, to provide the best opportunities for our children. He has worked as a substitute teacher for GPISD and currently serves as the director for the Harvest Project, a non-profit organization that provides fruit and vegetable baskets to the community once a week, feeding over 60 families in Grand Prairie.
Mr. Espinosa became the youngest board member ever elected to the GPISD School Board in May 2015. He believes he is able to understand the struggles of the citizens he represents in District 5 as a Trustee on the GPISD School Board.
