GPISD's AMERICAN INDIAN EDUCATION PROGRAM PRESENT IN NIEA 2016

Our district and community's commitment for our students' achievement, was represented at the National Indian Education Association Convention 2016.

I was honored to be invited as part of the Strategic Plan Group for Native Control of Native Education.

This is the second year of collaboration. The work is organized in six related topics:

1.Support Environments (including student success factors, school safety and well-being)

2.Native Educators (including Teacher Education and Preparation Programs, Native Professional Educators Network)

3.Culture Based Education (including native language educators, teaching strategies, advocacy and policy implications)

4.Repositories (including promising practices curriculum, instructional strategies, assessments and evaluations)

5.Research, Evaluation, Assessment and Policy (including authentic

6.Systems (including Legislation, Advocacy, Accreditation, Native Communities and working with Tribal Education Departments and Integrated Planning and Solutions)

This work will continue during the year and for the next three years to come.
